37)   Took the Oaths after he was discharged from the office of Sherf, And James
        Smith who craved Leave to defer his Swearing Till June Cort which
        was granted him ~~

        Mr. John Hawkins produceth his Comission for high Sherf of this Coty
        of Kent which is read as follows Vizt.
        William the third by the grace of God of England Scotland France
        and Ireland King Defender of the faith &ca. To all Persons to whom
        these Presents Shall Come greeting Know yee that we reposing
        Especially Trust and Confidence in the honesty fidelity Circumspection
        and prudence of John Hawkins Junr. of our County of Kent in our province
        of Maryland Gentleman have constituted ordained and Appointed &
        Do by these presents Constitute ordained and Appoint the Said John
        Hawkins Junr. to be Sherf. of our Said County of Kent to have re=
        :ceive and Enjoy all Such lawfull privilidges and benefitts as any other
        Sherf. within our Said province now hath or ever Lawfully had to have
        And to hold the Said office Of Sherf unto you the Said John Hawkins dureing
        Our pleasure You the Said John Hawkins having first taken the oaths
        Appointed by Act of Parliament as also the oath of Sherf. And Given
        bond for the due Execution of your ^Sd office according to Law And we further
        Order that the dedimus postets and posse Comitats to you directed be and
        Continue in full force and virtue during the Continuance of this our
        Comicon Wittness our Trusty and well beloved Nathaniel Blakiston Esqr.
        Capt Grall and Govr. in Cheif in and over our Sd Province and territory
        Of Maryland the fourth day of ffebruary in the 13th. year of our
