LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 204

10A.

It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to burn
or cause to be burned any cross or other religious symbol
upon any private or public property within this State
without the express consent of the owner of such property
and without first giving notice to the fire department which
services the area in which such burning is to take place.
Any person or persons who violates the provisions of this
section shall, upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a
[misdemeanor] FELONY misdemeanor and shall suffer punishment
by imprisonment in the county or Baltimore City jail for a
period not to exceed [90 days] 1 YEAR or shall be fined an
amount not to exceed [$500.00] $2,000 or shall suffer both
such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

(House Bill 1099)

AN ACT concerning

Attic Fans - Firestats

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the sale or installation of
temperature activated attic fans without a preset,
nonadjustable firestat or a fusable fusible link.

Section 13-314

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1975 Volume and 1979 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Commercial Law

13-314.

A PERSON MAY NOT SELL OR INSTALL A TEMPERATURE
ACTIVATED ATTIC FAN UNLESS THE FAN HAS A PRESET,
NONADJUSTABLE FIRESTAT OR A FUSABLE FUSIBLE LINK.
