Section 4-109(a)(2)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Agriculture

4-109.

(a) The provisions of this subtitle requiring
inspection of the slaughter of livestock and the preparation
of the carcass, part of it, meat, or meat food product at
any establishment conducting these operations do not apply
to the following:

(2) Custom slaughter OR CUSTOM PROCESSING by any
person of cattle, sheep, swine, or goats delivered by the
owner for slaughter[, and the preparation and transportation
in intrastate commerce by the slaughterer of any carcass,
part of it, or meat or meat food product of livestock,] OR
CUSTOM PROCESSING if used exclusively by the owner, his
household, nonpaying guests, or employees, and [if the
custom slaughterer does not engage in the business of buying
or selling livestock, carcasses, parts of carcasses, meat,
or meat food products of livestock capable for use as human
food] THE MEAT FOOD PRODUCT OF LIVESTOCK IS PLAINLY MARKED
"NOT FOR SALE";

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

Processors - Registration

FOR the purpose of providing for the registration of a
person who conducts a business relating to custom meat
processing.
