LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 74

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Agriculture

4-119.

(A)  A person shall register his name, the address of
each place of business, and all trade names under which he
conducts business, when required by the Secretary, if he
engages in any of the following businesses relating to
livestock:

(1)  Custom slaughterer, meat broker, renderer,
or animal food manufacturer;

(2)  Wholesaler of any livestock carcass, or part
or product of it;

(3)  Public warehouseman storing any livestock
carcass, or part or product of it;

(4)  Buyer, seller, or transporter of any dead,
dying, disabled, or diseased livestock or any part of any
carcass of livestock that died otherwise than by slaughter.

(B)  A PERSON WHO IS REQUIRED TO REGISTER UNDER THIS
SECTION SHALL PAY AN ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE OF $25.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

CHAPTER 75

(House Bill 416)

AN ACT concerning

Maryland Wholesome Meat Act - Custom Slaughterers and
Custom Processors

FOR the purpose of exempting, under certain circumstances,
livestock that is custom slaughtered or custom
processed from the inspection requirements of the
Maryland Wholesome Meat Act, provided the slaughtered
or processed livestock is plainly marked with a certain
label; removing the provision that the exception for
custom slaughterers is applicable only if the
slaughterer does not engage in certain business
activities; and deleting certain surplus language.
