13-317. MAKING FALSE STATEMENT OR REPORT PROHIBITED;
PENALTY.
(A) IN GENERAL.
A PERSON MAY NOT KNOWINGLY MAKE OR CAUSE TO BE MADE ANY
MATERIAL MISSTATEMENT OF FACT, INCLUDING UNDERSTATEMENT OR
OVERSTATEMENT OF FINANCIAL CONDITION, IN A STATEMENT OR
REPORT IN OR REGARDING AN APPLICATION FOR A LOAN OR
AFFECTING A LOAN ALREADY MADE.
(B) PENALTY.
ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THIS SECTION
IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO A
FINE NOT EXCEEDING $5,000 OR IMPRISONMENT NOT EXCEEDING 2
YEARS OR BOTH.

The present reference to seeking to influence the
action of the Department is deleted as
unnecessary.
Section 13—315(b) of this subtitle provides for
acceleration of a mortgage loan for a violation
of this section.
GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE TO ARTICLE:
In revising this article, the Commission to Revise the
Annotated Code transferred present Art. 11, § 108H, which
prohibits financial assistance in "blockbusting" activities,
to Art. 56, § 230A of the Code, which is the basic law
relating to these activities; see revisor's note to Art. 56,
§ 230A. The Commission also transferred present Art. 11, §
88A, which deals with representations as to services or
qualifications of attorneys, to Att. 10, § 33 of the Code,
which relates generally to attorneys and false
representations; see revisor's note to Art. 10, § 33.
The Commission deleted as obsolete Art. 11, §§ 37 and
57(c) and Art. 29, §§ 4 through 11. In essence, these
