This bill alters the maximum total of the employer's
basic contribution rate and basic rate adjustments in any
fiscal year except fiscal year 1981.

Senate Bill 655, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 27, 1980 accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill
577.

AN ACT concerning

Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement
of Support Act - Foreign Countries

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of "State" in the
Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act to
include the provinces or territories of the
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Dominion of Canada,
and other foreign countries; and making stylistic
changes.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 580.

This bill expands the current definition of "State" in
the Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act to include
Puerto Rico, any province or territory of Canada, and any
other foreign country in which a reciprocal support act has
been passed which is similar to that in this State.
