HARRY HUGHES, Governor                              3353

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

Senate Bill No. 524

AN ACT concerning

Creation of a State Debt - Baltimore City Jail

FOR the purpose of authorizing the creation of a State Debt
in the aggregate amount of $650,000, the proceeds to be
used for the completion of the renovation and
conversion of the old City Jail kitchen into a
dormitory; subject to the requirement that the Mayor
and city Council of Baltimore provide at least an equal
and matching fund for the same purpose; and providing
generally for the issue and sale of bonds evidencing
the loan.

May 27, 1980
Honorable James Clark, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 524.

This bill authorizes creation of a State debt to be
used to complete the renovation and conversion of the old
Baltimore City Jail kitchen into a dormitory.

House Bill 1014, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 27, 1980 accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor
