Senate Bill No. 303

AN ACT concerning

Crimes - Theft - Penalty

FOR the purpose of altering the applicable fine for
conviction of theft of property or services of a
certain value.

May 27, 1980
Honorable James Clark, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 303.

This bill increases from $100 to $500 the maximum fine
for conviction of theft of property valued at less than
$300.

House Bill 385, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on April 8, 1980 accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill
303.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor
