AN ACT concerning
Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's Counties - Oyster
Seed Areas
FOR the purpose of creating an oyster seed area in the
waters of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties;
and prohibiting any person from dredging or tonging for
oysters by any means without permission fro the
Department of Natural Resources.
FOR the purpose of providing that the Department of Natural
Resources shall enter into an agreement with the
Potomac River Fisheries Commission to establish oyster
seed areas in the Potomac River from Cornfield Point to
Point Lookout in order to propagate seed oysters to
replenish natural oyster bars in Calvert, Charles, St.
Mary's counties, and other areas of the State.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article - Natural Resources
4-1103.1.
THE WATERS OF CALVERT, CHARLES AND ST. MARY'S COUNTIES
FROM CORNFIELD POINT TO POINT LOOKOUT SHALL BE RESERVED FOR
USE OF THE DEPARTMENT TO PROPAGATE SEED OYSTERS TO REPLENISH
THE OYSTER HARVEST OF THESE WATERS. A PERSON MAY NOT DREDGE
OR TONG BY ANY MEANS FOR OYSTERS IN THESE WATERS WITHOUT THE
PERMISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL ENTER
INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE POTOMAC RIVER FISHERIES
COMMISSION TO ESTABLISH OYSTER SEED AREAS IN THE POTOMAC
RIVER FROM CORNFIELD POINT TO POINT LOOKOUT FOR THE PURPOSE
OF PROPAGATING SEED OYSTERS TO REPLENISH NATURAL OYSTER BARS
IN CALVERT, CHARLES, ST. MARY'S COUNTIES, AND OTHER AREAS OF
THE STATE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.
