its findings to the General Assembly no later than January
15, 1981.
SECTION 2. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

AN ACT concerning
Emergency Lighting and Electric Power Systems
for Buildings
FOR the purpose of requiring certain buildings, either owned
by the State of Maryland, its subdivisions or any other
entity, having a certain number of stories and
occupancy to provide for an emergency lighting and
electric power system; vesting the power to enforce
this section in the State Fire Marshal; authorizing the
State Fire Prevention Commission to provide and
implement certain rules and regulations requiring the
emergency lighting and electric power standards
approved by certain departments of the State; requiring
the source of control of the emergency lighting and
electric power system installation and operation of
emergency lighting and power to meet certain standards;
providing for certain enforcement powers of Baltimore
City; and providing for a penalty for violations of
these provisions; and relating generally to emergency
lighting and electric power systems for certain
buildings.

Section 58 to be under the new subheading "Emergency
Lighting and Electric Power Systems for
