aquatic life, and domestic, agricultural, industrial,
recreational, and other legitimate beneficial uses. Also, it
is State public policy to provide that, SO FAR AS FEASIBLE
TO REQUIRE THAT WASTES AND WASTEWATERS BE CONFINED AND
CONTAINED FROM ENTERING STATE WATERS AND THAT no waste is
discharged into any waters of this State without first
receiving necessary treatment or other corrective action to
protect the legitimate beneficial uses of this State's
waters, and provide for TO PROVIDE AND PROMOTE, THROUGH
INNOVATIVE AND ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF WASTE AND WASTEWATER
TREATMENT, prevention, abatement, and control of new or
existing water pollution. The Department shall cooperate
with the agencies of other states and the federal government
in carrying out these objectives.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

AN ACT concerning

State Division of Parole and Probation - Reimbursement to

Baltimore County

FOR the purpose of requiring the Division of Parole and
Probation of Maryland to reimburse Baltimore County at
a certain rate for certain space, equipment, and
facilities.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 64A - Merit System

Section 9J-l(d)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1972 Replacement Volume and 1979 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 64A - Merit System

9J-1.

(d) Baltimore County, Maryland, shall furnish the
Division of Parole and Probation with suitable space,
equipment and facilities in order that the Division may
