Article 33 - Election Code

Section 2-3(a)(22) and 2-7(f)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1976 Replacement Volume and 1979 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 33 - Election Code

2-3.

(a) Each member of the boards of the several political
subdivisions of the State shall receive an annual salary of
not less than the following amounts:

(22) Washington County: [$800] $1,080.

2-7.

(f) (1) Each board shall have power to fix the
compensation of judges within the limits of the amounts
authorized for this purpose by the county commissioners,
county council or the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore,
as the case may be, provided that compensation shall not be
less than [twenty dollars ($20.00)] $20 per day for each day
actually served.

(2)  In Allegany County the compensation shall
not be less than [thirty dollars ($30.00)] $30 per day for
each day actually served.

(3)  In Baltimore City, the compensation of
judges of elections shall be [fifty dollars ($50.00)] $50
per day for each election day; except that judges who have
not received the course of instruction prescribed by the
board of supervisors of elections shall have compensation of
[forty dollars ($40.00)] $40 per day for each election day.

(4)  In Prince George's County, judges shall be
paid [at the rate of seventy-five dollars ($75.00)] $75 per
day for two chief judges and [fifty dollars ($50.00)] $50
per day for judges, for each election day actually served.

(5) (I) In Washington County, chief judges shall
be paid NOT LESS THAN $45 per day for each election day,
plus a mileage allowance AND EXPENSES as determined by the
board; judges shall be paid $35 per day OR, IF APPROVED BY
THE BOARD, AN AMOUNT GREATER THAN $35, for each election day
PLUS EXPENSES AS APPROVED BY THE BOARD [ [; and guards
shall be paid $25 per day for each election day] ]

(II) IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, AFTER THE CHIEF
JUDGE JUDGES OR JUDGES WHO HAVE RECEIVED A COURSE OF
INSTRUCTION IN POLL WORKING THEY SHALL BE ELIGIBLE FOR
ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION APPROVED BY THE BOARD.
