certificate of clinical competence in Speech Pathology of
the American Speech and Hearing Association or the
equivalent and be approved by the Maryland Speech and
Hearing Association.
(4) One member shall be a person licensed to
practice medicine in this State and hold a certificate of
qualification from the American Board of Otolaryngology.
(5) ONE MEMBER SHALL BE A CONSUMER WHO:
(I) IS QUALIFIED TO REPRESENT THE
INTERESTS OF CONSUMERS A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC;
(II) HAS NEVER BEEN AN AUDIOLOGIST OR
AUDIOLOGIST-IN-TRAINING, NOR HAS A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER WHO IS
AN AUDIOLOGIST OR AUDIOLOGIST-IN-TRAINING;
(III) HAS NEVER PARTICIPATED IN A RELATED
COMMERCIAL OR PROFESSIONAL FIELD, NOR HAS A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER
WHO PARTICIPATES IN A RELATED COMMERCIAL OR PROFESSIONAL
FIELD; AND
(IV) HAS NOT WITHIN 2 YEARS PRIOR TO
APPOINTMENT NOR DURING THE TERM OF APPOINTMENT HAD A
FINANCIAL INTEREST IN AN INDIVIDUAL, ASSOCIATION,
UNINCORPORATED ASSOCIATION, CORPORATION, OR ANY OTHER ENTITY
WHICH IS REGULATED BY THE BOARD.
(6) A CONSUMER MEMBER MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN
ACTIVITIES RELATING TO EXAMINATIONS UNLESS APPROVED BY THE
BOARD.
803.
(a) There shall be a Board of Examiners for Speech
Pathologists. The Board shall consist of [five] SIX members
to be appointed by the [Secretary of Health and Mental
Hygiene] MEANS SPECIFIED IN § 801 OF THIS SUBTITLE.
(b) (1) Members of the Board shall be residents of
this State.
(2) Three members shall have paid work
experience in speech pathology for at least five years, hold
the certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology
of the American Speech and Hearing Association or the
equivalent and be approved by the Maryland Speech and
Hearing Association.
(3) One member shall have paid work experience
in audiology for at least five years, hold the certificate
of clinical competence in audiology of the American Speech
and Hearing Association or the equivalent and be approved by
the Maryland Speech and Hearing Association.
