LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 702

As used in this subtitle the following words have the
meanings indicated.

(E)  "FINANCIAL INTEREST" MEANS:

(1)  AN ASSET WITH A FAIR MARKET VALUE OF $1,000
OR MORE IN A CALENDAR YEAR; OR

(2)  A SOURCE OF INCOME OF $500 OR MORE IN A
CALENDAR YEAR.

(F)  "HOUSEHOLD MEMBER" MEANS:

(1)  A PERSON'S SPOUSE, SON, DAUGHTER, WARD,
FINANCIALLY DEPENDENT PARENT, OR OTHER RELATIVE WHO SHARES
THE PERSON'S LEGAL RESIDENCE; OR

(2)  A PERSON'S SON, DAUGHTER, WARD, PARENT, OR
OTHER RELATIVE OVER WHOSE FINANCIAL AFFAIRS THE PERSON HAS
LEGAL OR ACTUAL CONTROL.

292.

(a) Upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Health
and Mental Hygiene the Governor shall appoint the Board
consisting of [9] 11 members; six of whom shall be
registered nurses [and], three of whom shall be licensed
practical nurses, AND TWO OF WHOM SHALL BE CONSUMERS. THE
CONSUMER MEMBERS SHALL BE APPOINTED WITH THE ADVICE AND
CONSENT OF THE SENATE. Registered nurse members shall be
appointed in categories as specified:

(i) Nursing education — three members, one
member representing each of the following education
programs: baccalaureate, associate degree and licensed
practical nursing.

(ii) Nursing service — three members, one
representing administration, and two representing clinical
practice.

(b)  Registered nurse members shall be appointed from
lists submitted by the Maryland Nurses Association, Inc. and
licensed practical nurse members shall be appointed from
lists submitted by the Maryland Licensed Practical Nurses
Association. A reasonable time before a NURSE MEMBER
vacancy on the Board is to occur by the expiration of a term
or by the creation by law of an additional [membership]
NURSE MEMBER on the Board, or as promptly as possible after
a NURSE MEMBER vacancy has occurred from other causes, a
list of five qualified candidates for each vacancy shall be
submitted by the designated agency to the Governor and to
the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene. Upon request of
the Governor, one (but no more than one) additional list of
five qualified candidates for any NURSE MEMBER vacancy shall
be similarly submitted and the Governor shall make his
appointment from either the original list or the additional
