shall take effect July 1, 1980.

AN ACT concerning

St. Mary's County - Recreation and Parks Board

FOR the purpose of eliminating a conflict with the Board of
Recreation and Parks and St. Mary's County personnel
practices by repealing the Board's authority to employ
certain personnel; and repealing outdated committee
authorizations of the Board of Recreation and Parks in
St. Mary's County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

The Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County
Section 100-1

Article 19 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1978 Edition, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:

Article 19 - St. Mary's County

100-1.

A.  Board; authorized. The County Commissioners of St.
Mary's County are hereby authorized to establish a Board of
Recreation and Parks with powers and duties hereinafter
specified.

B.  Board; members. The Board shall consist of nine
(9) members, appointed by the County Commissioners, of whom
one (1) shall be first recommended by the County Board of
Education from its membership or otherwise. All members of
the Board shall be appointed for four (4) years from the
first day of January of the year of their appointments or
until their successors are appointed. The members of the
Board shall be divided into three (3) classes. The initial
