FOR the purpose of granting the permit coordinator
designated by the Board of Public Works the authority
to inquire about permit applications and setting a time
limit for action on the issuance or denial of certain
permits.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 78A - Public Works
Section 66(b)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 78A - Public Works
66.
(b) This subtitle shall not affect or lessen any
exclusive jurisdiction granted by law to a local government
or State agency to consider and act upon applications for
particular permits. Each local government and State agency
having such jurisdiction shall continue to exercise it free
from interference by any other agency. HOWEVER, IN ADDITION
TO THE DUTIES AND AUTHORITY CONFERRED BY THIS SUBTITLE ON
THE COORDINATOR, THE COORDINATOR MAY MAKE INQUIRY AS TO ANY
PERMIT APPLICATION AND MAY SET A TIME LIMIT FOR ACTION ON
THE ISSUANCE OR DENIAL OF A PERMIT, IF THE PERMIT
APPLICATION HAS NOT BEEN ACTED UPON WITHIN THE PRESCRIBED
TIME. The procedures set forth in this subtitle, however,
are exclusive and shall prevail over any inconsistent laws,
rules, regulations or orders.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.
