SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 101 - Workmen's Compensation

21.

(b) The following shall constitute employees subject
to the provisions of this act, except as exempted under
subsection (c) of this section:

(11)  EVERY PERSON WHILE PERFORMING OFFICIAL

DUTIES AS A JUROR IN ANY COURT IN THE STATE.

(11) ANY PERSON ON JURY DUTY IN A NON-FEDERAL
COURT IN THIS STATE, WHO SHALL BE DEEMED AN EMPLOYEE OF THE
JUDICIAL BRANCH STATE FOR THE PURPOSES OF WORKMEN'S
COMPENSATION. THE JUROR'S PER DIEM FOR JURY DUTY SHALL BE
THE BASIS FOR COMPENSATION. THE JUDICIAL BRANCH STATE SHALL
PAY INTO THE STATE ACCIDENT FUND SUCH PREMIUMS AS MAY BE
DETERMINED BY THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE FUND TO BE NECESSARY
TO PROVIDE WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION COVERAGE FOR JURORS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1980.

AN ACT concerning

Committees of Oystermen

FOR the purpose of establishing a statewide committee of
oystermen; providing that each county committee select
a chairman to confer with the Department of Natural
Resources on certain issues; modifying the process of
establishing an advisory committee of licensed
dredgers; and providing that this committee select a
chairman to confer with the Department of Natural
Resources on certain issues.
