(6)  Additional signals: The operator and
district mine inspector by agreement may add additional
signals; however, these signals must be printed together
with the code on large posters or cards, and displayed in
the engine room and at every point where used.

(d) A person may not deface, pull down, destroy,
interfere with, or disregard any notice board, signal, or
warning in any mine, knowingly damage any signal or
communication system, knowingly give or cause to be given
any wrong signal within or about the mine, deface or destroy
any general or special rules or mining laws, or knowingly
destroy, falsify, remove, or conceal any record or report
required to be made and kept.]

Telephone service or equivalent communication
facilities shall be provided at the bottom of each main
shaft or slope and in the mine from the surface to any
working section of the mine where the working is at least
1,500 feet from the surface. A telephone line, other than a
cable, shall be carried on insulators, installed on the
opposite side from the power or trolley wire. If the service
or facility crosses any power or trolley wire, it shall be
insulated adequately. Each telephone circuit on the surface
shall be protected by lightning arresters.]

An overhead high-potential power line shall be placed
at least 15 feet above the ground and 20 feet above a
driveway or haulageway. It shall be installed on insulators
and supported and guarded to prevent contact with other
circuits. An overhead power circuit shall be protected
against lightning and voltage surges. A high-potential power
line shall be protected adequately by circuit breakers,
fuses, or both. Electric wiring in surface buildings shall
be installed to prevent minimum fire and contact hazards.]

(a)  Unless a surface transformer is isolated by
elevation at least 8 feet above the ground, it shall be
enclosed in a transformer house or surrounded by a suitable
fence at least 6 feet high. If the enclosure is metal, it
shall be grounded effectively. The gate or door to the
enclosure shall be locked at all times, unless an authorized
person is present.

(b)  Each surface transformer containing flammable oil
and installed where it presents a fire hazard, such as near
mine openings or in or near combustible buildings, shall be
