requiring the Comptroller to promulgate certain
regulations.
BY adding to repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 56 - Licenses
Section 157J(e)
Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 56 - Licenses
157J.
(A) Any person selling at retail gasoline or special
fuels as defined in this subtitle, shall at all times
display signs as herein defined:
[(a)] (1) All pumps and dispensing equipment for
gasoline or special fuels shall be marked conspicuously to
show the price per gallon of gasoline or special fuels
offered for sale, inclusive of taxes, in figures of equal
size and where fractional cents or figures are used therein,
the combined height and width of the numerator and
denominator shall be equal to the height and width of the
other figures used.
[(b)] (2) Any sign or placard or other means used on
the premises of any retail outlet and the approaches thereto
advertising the price of gasoline or special fuels for sale
at retail for use in motor vehicles may contain a separate
listing of the price and a separate listing of each tax
thereon, but must contain a total of such price and taxes
which shall be the same size as the listing of the price.
Numbers used to advertise the total price of such gasoline
or special fuels shall be of uniform size, and where
fractions are used, the numerator and denominator thereof
combined shall be of the same size as any whole numbers
used. It shall not be necessary that a denominator be used
to indicate fractions, but if one is not used, the numerator
must be the same size of the whole number used.
(C) (B) (1) ALL RETAIL OUTLETS SHALL DISPLAY AN
ADDITIONAL SIGN OR SIGNS ON THE PREMISES OR APPROACHES TO
THE OUTLET STATING THE PRICE PER GALLON, HALF GALLON, OR
LITER INCLUSIVE OF TAXES FOR THE LEAST EXPENSIVE GRADES OF
LEADED AND UNLEADED GASOLINE. IF THE UNIT OF QUANTITY IS
OTHER THAN A GALLON, THE UNIT OF QUANTITY SHALL ALSO BE
DISPLAYED. ALL LETTERS AND NUMBERS SHALL CONFORM TO THE
UNIFORMITY REQUIREMENTS OF SUBSECTION (B) ABOVE, AND SHALL
BE OF SUCH SIZE AS TO BE READABLE BY MOTORISTS APPROACHING
