   wholly belong to me in and about Wilmington were given to me
   by my late dear Uncle Thomas Gilpin and therefore I would ~
   chuse them to remain for my children . . . Item I give unto my
   Sisters Esthir Fisher and Sarah Fisher, my Brothers Samuel K. [R?]
   Fisher and Jabez Maud Fisher, my Nephews Joshua Fisher son of
   my Brother Thomas, and Thomas Fisher son of my Brouther Miers
   and to each of them, one small piece of plate of the weight of about
   Sixteen ounces each, as a token of my Affection for them. Item I
   give and bequeath to my dear Children Sarah Gilpin and. —
   Thomas Gilpin and to each of them a piece of plate of the like ~
   weight of those above mentioned as a token of my Affectionate –
   Remembrance of them.  Item having in my Will directed all my
   real and personal Estate to be equally divided between my wife ~
   and children +c I do hereby declare my meaning to be, all the –
   residue of my real and personal Estate not in my Will and this Codicil
   otherwise disposed of, and so the said clause is to be construed, And I
   do declare this Codicil to be part of my Will and do hereby ratify
   and confirm the whole and every part thereof as and for my last
   Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my
   hand and Seal the first day of March 1778. ——
   Signed Sealed published pronounced & declared by the
sd. Thos. Gilpin as & for a Codicil to his last Will & Testament in
the presence of us who at his Request have Signed our names      Thoms. Gilpin   {LS}±
as Witnesses.  Isr. Pemberton, John Pemberton . ——
   New Castle County Sst. . I do Certify that the foregoing Will + Codicil
   is Recorded in the Registers Office, at New Castle, for the County of
   New Castle, on Delaware in Book L Page 220 In Testimony whereof
   I have set my hand at New Castle Twentieth day of June 1783 —

   probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the
