185 In the Name of God Amen the 16th. day of August one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six – I Thomas Dee of Chester Town in the State of Maryland being Sick in Body but of Good and perfect Memory thanks be to Almighty God and Calling to Remembrance the uncertain Estate of this Transitory Life and that all flesh Must yield unto Death when it Shall please God to Call, do Make and Constitute ordain and Declare this to be my last Will and Testament in the Maner and form Following- and first being penitent and Sorry from the Bottom of my hart for my Sins most Humbly desiring forgivness for the same I Give and Commit my Soul unto Almighty God my Saviour and Redeemer who Gave it and my Body to be decently Buried at the Discretion of my well beloved Wife Elizabeth Dee whom I wholey and Solely make My Executrix and Administratrix of this my last will and Testament and as for what worldly Estate it has pleased God to Bless me with more then I ~ deserve – First after my funeral Expences are Settled and paid I desire that all my Just debts shall be Settled and paid out of my worldly estate and Next – I leave and Bequeath unto my Son John Dee my two Mares & Next after my Wife hath taken her Thirds out of the Remainder I leave & Bequeath unto my Two Daughters Martha Dee & Elizabeth Dee the rest of my estate wholy and Soley to them and their Heirs for ever & I leave my well Beloved – wife the Sole Administratix, for the use and Behoofe of this my last will and Testament Revoking and adnuling all and Every will or Wills Testament heretofore made by or for me where unto I have set my hand –
the Subscribing witnesses to the within last Will and Testament of Thos. Dee late of Kent County deced and Severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did See the Testator herein Named Sign and Seal this Will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will & Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of Sound disposing mind Memory and understanding & that they these deponants together with James Grace the other Subscribing witness was present at the same time & Signed his Name as a Witness to this will Together – with these deponants in the presence & at the request of the Testator & in the presence of each other ~ Before Jno.
