172 In the Name of God Amen the Twenty Second day of February 1786, I James Hynson of Kent County and State of Maryland farmer being Sick and weak in body But of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God for the Same therefore calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is once appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last principally. I Give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it. and my Body I recommend to the earth to be decently Buried at the Discression of my Executors Nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the Same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching – Such worldly estate as it hath been pleased God to bless me with in this Life I Give demise and dispose of the same in manner and form Following to Wit Imprimis I Give and Bequeath unto my Beloved wife Sarah Hynson a third part of all my Lands during her Natural life and no Longer and also a third part of my personal estate ~ after my funeral Charges and Just debts are taken and deduc= = ted out Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Beloved Son James my plantation and the thirds wifes deceas to him and his heirs forever, But if my Son James should die without Lawfull Issue of his Body Begotten then and in Such Case I Give and Bequeath the said plantation to my Beloved Son William to him and his heirs forever, also I Give & devise unto my Beloved son James a Negro man Named Nat a Negro woman Named Amy, one Mare Called Light foot a Black – horse Called Tony and a Black horse Called Why not Item I Give and Bequeath unto my beloved Son William a Negro man Named Harry a Negro Girl named Rachel a Bay horse Colt, a mear Called Juel and a Grey horse Caled Toppin to him and his Heirs forever |
