   Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five ——
                                                                  Wm.   Dawson {seal}
   Signed Sealed published & declared by the Testator to be his last
   Will and Testament and in the presence of us —
   Charles Groome, J Kennard, St. Ledger Everett, —
   January 26th. 1785 Then came Charles Groome and St. Ledger Everett –
   two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the within last Will & Testament of
   of William Dawson late of Kent County deceased, and Severally made
   Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, that they did see the
   Testator therein named sign and Seal this Will, And that they heard
   him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will &
   Testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their
   of their apprehensions of Sound disposing mind memory & Understanding
   and that John Kinnard the other Subscribing Witness was present ~
   at the same time and Subscribed his name asaWitness to this Will –
   together with these deponants in the presence, and at the Request of
   the Testator, and in the presence of each other. ——

   In the name of God amen I Peter Jones of Kent County in the
   State of Maryland being in perfect heath of body, and of sound &
   disposing mind memory and Understanding, Considering the —
   Certinty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being
   desireous to settle my Worldly affairs, and thereby be the better prepaird
   to leave this World when it shall please God to call me-hence, do
   therefore make and publish this my last Will and Testament in
   manner and form following that is to Say. First & principally
   I commit my Soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my body
   to the Earth to be decently buryed at the discretion of my Executrix
   of my herein after named, and after my debts & funeral charges
   are paid I devise and bequeath as follows, Item st. I give & bequeath
   all my personal Estate to my beloved Mother Margaret Jones only –
   My Negroe Bett to be set at liberty after my death.  2d. Item and
