Commissioners of Dorchester County shall levy for each
of the years at least the amounts specified; providing
that certain minimum amounts shall be paid and
distributed to the volunteer fire companies after 1981
until such amounts are increased by the General
Assembly or by the Dorchester County Commissioners;
relating generally to annual payments to volunteer
companies in Dorchester County; and clarifying
language.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 25 - County Commissioners

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article 25 - County Commissioners
3.
(w) To contribute funds to volunteer fire departments
in the county.
The County Commissioners of Dorchester County shall pay
[annually the sum of thirty-nine thousand, five hundred
dollars ($39,500.00)] IN EACH OF THE YEARS 1979, 1980, AND
1981 AT LEAST THE SUMS OF $81,500, $100,000, AND $118,500,
RESPECTIVELY to the several volunteer fire companies in the
county, so long as they remain active bodies and
fire-fighting organizations, for their benefit. The money
shall be used by the respective fire companies for the
support, maintenance, equipment, and operation of the
several fire companies for the purpose of suppressing fires
in the county.
The payment shall be made on the first day of October
in each [and every year] OF THE YEARS by the County
Commissioners of Dorchester County, and it shall be
distributed to the several fire companies of Dorchester
County[, as follows] IN AT LEAST THE FOLLOWING AMOUNTS:
