Resolution of the Town of Seat Pleasant
Resolution of the Town Council of Seat Pleasant,
Maryland, adopted pursuant to the authority of Article XI—E
of the Constitution of the State of Maryland and Article 23A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 edition, as
amended), title: "Corporations—Municipal," to repeal and
re—enact the Charter of said Town of Seat Pleasant as set
forth in Sections 68—1 to 68—19, inclusive, of Chapter 68 of
the Prince George's County Code, 1963 edition, title: "Seat
Pleasant," the said Sections being the Charter of the Town
of Seat Pleasant.
Whereas, the present Charter of Seat Pleasant was
originally enacted by the General Assembly in the Laws of
Maryland, 1931, Chapter 197;
Whereas, this charter has served the Town of Seat
Pleasant as a basic instrument of government for 43 years;
Whereas, the needs of the Town require a more modern
document to help meet the contingencies of modern life;
Whereas, this historic document is insufficient in its
present form and language to enable the Town to properly
carry out its mandated functions;
Whereas, a new and modern Charter has been proposed by
the Seat Pleasant Town Council;
[Sections 68-1 to 68-19 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County, as found in the 1963
Edition, and 1967 Supplement, repealed and Sections 100
through 1604 added.

the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), title
"Corporations-Municipal", sub-title "Home Rule", sub-heading
"Charter Amendments", to amend Section 29-4 of the Charter
