(D) EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROHIBITED IN
SUBPARAGRAPHS (B) AND (C) ABOVE, TO ACCEPT OR RECEIVE,
DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, ANY GIFT FROM ANY INDIVIDUAL OR
ENTITY. EXCLUDED FROM THIS SUBPARAGRAPH (D) ARE:
(I) GIFTS FROM A PERSON RELATED BY BLOOD
OR MARRIAGE, OR AN INTENDED SPOUSE, OR A MEMBER OF THE
OFFICER'S OR EMPLOYEE'S HOUSEHOLD;
(II) GIFTS OR AWARDS OF A CEREMONIAL
NATURE; GIFTS OR AWARDS RECEIVED UPON RETIREMENT FROM STATE
EMPLOYMENT, OR IN RECOGNITION OF MERITORIOUS STATE SERVICE,
OR IN RECOGNITION OF LENGTH OF STATE SERVICE; OR GIFTS OR
AWARDS OF NOMINAL VALUE RECEIVED FROM FELLOW EMPLOYEES AT AN
OFFICE PARTY;
(III) A COMMERCIALLY REASONABLE LOAN MADE
IN THE ORDINARY COURSE OF BUSINESS;
(IV) ADVERTISING, PROMOTIONAL, OR
INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS SUCH AS PENS, PENCILS, NOTEPADS, OR
OTHER SIMILAR ITEMS OF NOMINAL VALUE;
(V) FOOD OR REFRESHMENTS FOR CONSUMPTION
ON THE PREMISES; AND REASONABLE EXPENSES FOR FOOD, TRAVEL,
LODGING, AND SCHEDULED ENTERTAINMENT OF AN OFFICER OR
EMPLOYEE AT A MEETING TO WHICH THE OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE HAS
BEEN INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN A PANEL OR AS A SPEAKER;
(VI) GIFTS OF TICKETS OR FREE ADMISSION
EXTENDED TO AN ELECTED CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICER TO ATTEND
PROFESSIONAL OR INTERCOLLEGIATE SPORTING EVENTS OR
CHARITABLE, CULTURAL, OR POLITICAL EVENTS, OR COURTESY OR
HONORARY MEMBERSHIPS EXTENDED TO SUCH OFFICERS IN
CHARITABLE, CULTURAL, SOCIAL, OR POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS, IF
THE PURPOSE OF SUCH GIFT, ADMISSION, OR MEMBERSHIP IS A
COURTESY OR CEREMONY EXTENDED TO THE OFFICE.
(E) NOTHING IN THIS PARAGRAPH SHALL BE
INTERPRETED OR CONSTRUED TO EXTEND OR APPLY TO THE
SOLICITATION, ACCEPTANCE, RECEIPT, OR REGULATION OF
POLITICAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS REGULATED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 33, §§ 26-1 ET SEQ., OR ANY
OTHER PROVISION OF STATE LAW REGULATING THE CONDUCT OF
ELECTIONS OR THE RECEIPT OF POLITICAL CAMPAIGN
CONTRIBUTIONS.
(F) THE BOARD OF ETHICS BY WRITTEN ORDER MAY
SUSPEND THE OPERATION OF THIS SECTION, IN WHOLE OR IN PART,
WITH RESPECT TO ANY PARTICULAR GIFT OR CLASS OF GIFTS, OR
WITH RESPECT TO ANY PARTICULAR STATE OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE OR
CLASS THEREOF, UPON A FINDING THAT THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
PARTICULAR GIFT OR CLASS OF GIFTS WOULD NOT BE DETRIMENTAL
TO THE IMPARTIAL CONDUCT OF THE BUSINESS OF THE STATE.
