VETOES

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 864.

This hill alters the time for presentation to the
General Assembly of amendments to the pay plan.

House Bill 1421, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 29, 1979, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill
864.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

Senate Bill No. 926

AN ACT concerning

Retail Sales and Use Taxes -
Farm Machinery and Manufacturing Machinery

FOR the purpose of repealing certain provisions of the
Retail Sales Tax Act and the Maryland Use Tax which tax
certain farm machinery and manufacturing machinery at a
certain rate; and exempting these items from the retail
sales tax and use tax; and clarifying language.

May 29, 1979

Honorable James Clark, Jr.
President of the Senate

Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 926.
