Wild Waterfowl
FOR the purpose of requesting the Department of Natural
Resources to submit to the General Assembly a plan by
which wild waterfowl can be fed to keep them from
starving under the adverse conditions which we have
recently experienced; and requesting that the
Department of Natural Resources submit their plan to
the Legislative Policy Committee of the General
Assembly by a certain date.
WHEREAS, The State of Maryland has experienced an
extremely hard winter covered in most part of tie State by
snow for at least a 2—weeks' duration; and
WHEREAS, Host of the waters of the State of Maryland
during this period were covered with ice; and
WHEREAS, Wild waterfowl were deprived of the
opportunity to feed in the water or ground during this
duration; and
WHEREAS, Many lives of wild waterfowl have been
endangered during this period; and that the Department of
Natural Resources has done nothing to feed wild waterfowl
during this crisis; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Department of Natural Resources is requested to devise a
plan by which wild waterfowl can be fed to keep them from
starving under severe weather conditions; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Department devise this plan by
August 1, 1979 and submit the plan to the Legislative Policy
Committee at the first meeting of the Committee which is
held in August, 1979; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be submitted
to the Honorable James B. Coulter, Secretary of Natural
Resources; to the Honorable James Clark, Jr., President of
the Senate of Maryland; and to the Honorable Benjamin L.
Cardin, Speaker of the House of Delegates.
