JOINT RESOLUTIONS

Since nontidal wetlands also have great value to the
environment and natural resources of the State; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That this
Body direct the Water Resources Administration of the
Department of Natural Resources to give due consideration to
protection of the Patuxent River basin watershed nontidal
wetlands in administering their other programs, to report
back to the General Assembly during the 1980 legislative
session with an initial inventory of these nontidal
wetlands, and to recommend a plan, including applicable
legislation, for protecting these nontidal wetlands as a
part of the report due in 1980 to the General Assembly; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the
Honorable James B. Coulter, Secretary, Department of Natural
Resources, Tawes State Office Building, Annapolis, Maryland
21401.

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Fort Howard Veterans' Administration Hospital

FOR the purpose of requesting the President and the Congress
of the United States not to close the Fort Howard
Veterans' Administration Hospital in the North Point
area of eastern Baltimore County.

WHEREAS, The federal government is considering closing
the Fort Howard Veterans' Administration Hospital in the
North Point area of eastern Baltimore County, Maryland, in
conjunction with the completion of a new Baltimore
Metropolitan Veterans' Administration Hospital; and

WHEREAS, The Fort Howard Veterans' Administration
Hospital is a rehabilitation and general medical hospital
with approximately 230 beds and a 47—bed Nursing Home Care
Unit; and

WHEREAS, The hospital has very active rehabilitation
services, and there is strong emphasis on the hospital's
function as a rehabilitation center. The fully equipped
clinics use individually prescribed techniques for each
patient. Physical therapy, corrective therapy, occupational
therapy, recreational therapy, manual arts therapy, and
