AN ACT concerning

Pensions — Service for Part-Time Employment
Appointed Officials

FOR the purpose of specifying the amount of membership
service that may be given to members of the State

Employees' Retirement System for part-time employment;

stating the manner of computing the membership service

for this—employment; and providing for the effect of

this Act on other laws prohibiting membership the

granting of creditable service in the Employees'

Retirement System to any person appointed as an

official on or after July 1, 1979 who serves less than

130 days per year, with a certain exception.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

(18) NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISIONS OF THIS

ARTICLE, ANY MEMBERSHIP SERVICE ALLOWED UNDER THE PROVISIONS

RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR EMPLOYMENT OTHER THAN FULL-TIME OR

PERMANENT PART TIME MAY BE GRANTED ONLY ON THE BASIS THAT 22

DAYS OF ACTUAL EMPLOYMENT EQUAL 1 MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP

SERVICE. ONE ADDITIONAL MONTH OF SERVICE MAY BE ALLOWED IF

FRACTIONAL DAYS OF ACTUAL EMPLOYMENT TOTALING 11 OR MORE

RESULT FROM THIS COMPUTATION
