LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 680

[Hawkers and Peddlers]

[176.]

[No huckster, hawker or peddler shall sell or offer for
sale any vegetables, eggs, poultry, meats or other farm
products, at wholesale or retail or any dry goods or
clothing at retail, in Calvert County until he shall have
first taken out a license for that purpose in accordance
with the provisions of this sub—title; provided, however,
that this sub—title shall not apply to the farmers or
growers selling their own vegetables or other perishable
farm products.]

[177.]

[For every such license, the Clerk of the Circuit Court
of Calvert County shall be paid Seventy—Five Dollars
($75.00) per annum for a wholesaler's license and One
Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per annum for a
retailer's license. The receipts from said licenses shall
be given to the County Treasurer to be placed in the general
funds. The Clerk shall issue to any person paying the
required fee a metal tag indicating that the fee for the
current year has been paid, and said tag shall be attached
to the wagon, cart or motor vehicle used by the applicant.
Any person violating the provisions of this sub—title shall,
upon conviction, be fined not less than two hundred dollars
($200.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500-00) to be
recovered as other fines are recovered.]

[177A. ]

[So non-resident itinerant magazine salesman shall
sell, solicit, or attempt to sell or solicit any magazine or
other publication within the County until he shall have
first taken out a license for that purpose. The license
shall be issued by the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Calvert
County who shall receive for each such license issued the
sum of fifty dollars ($50.00) per annum. Any person
violating the provisions of this subtitle shall, upon
conviction, be fined not less than one hundred dollars
($100.00) nor more than three hundred dollars ($300.00) to
be recovered as other fines are recovered.]

(Note: This subtitle is proposed for repeal inasmuch as
the provisions of law relating to hawkers and peddlers may
be found in Article 56 of the Annotated Code. This bill
proposes to add new section 29 to that Article concerning
Calvert County.)
