AN ACT concerning

Soft—Shell Clams — Catching by Hydraulic Dredge

FOR the purpose of changing certain distances from the
shoreline of the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, the
Patuxent and Potomac Rivers, and their tributaries in
St. Mary's County in which clamming by hydraulic
dredges is prohibited.

SECTION 1- BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article — Natural Resources

4-1038.

(a) Except as provided in § 4-1039, a person may not
catch soft—shell clams by hydraulic clam dredge in the
following waters:

(6) IN THE ST. MARY'S COUNTY WATERS OF THE
CHESAPEAKE BAY, THE PATUXENT AND POTOMAC RIVERS, AND THEIR
TRIBUTARIES WITHIN 150 FEET OF THE SHORELINE FROM SEPTEMBER
16 TO APRIL 15 AND WITHIN 800 FEET OF THE SHORELINE FROM

APRIL 16 TO SEPTEMBER 15.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
