(C) EACH PARKING LOT SHALL DESIGNATE PARKING SPACES
FOR THE USE OF HANDICAPPED PERSONS AS FOLLOWS:

(D) (C) EACH SPACE RESERVED FOR HANDICAPPED PERSONS

UNDER SUBSECTION (C) (B) SHALL:

(1)   BE AT LEAST 12 FEET WIDE;

(2)   BE LOCATED SO THAT A HANDICAPPED PERSON

USING IT CAN REACH ENTRANCES, RAMPS, OR WALKWAYS WITHOUT

HAVING TO WHEEL OR WALK BEHIND A PARKED CAR, OTHER THAN A

CAR THAT IS LEGALLY PARKED BY A HANDICAPPED PERSON TO

PROVIDE HANDICAPPED PERSONS WITH EASY ACCESSIBILITY TO THE
STORE OR SHOPPING CENTER.

(E) (D) (1) EACH SPACE RESERVED FOR A HANDICAPPED
PERSON SHALL BE SIGNIFIED BY A SIGN WITH THE INTERNATIONAL
SYMBOL OF ACCESS AND THE WORDS "RESERVED FOR HANDICAPPED
PERSONS"
"HANDICAPPED PARKING" ON IT.

(2) (I) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN THIS PARAGRAPH,
THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE SIGN SHALL BE AT LEAST 8 FEET ABOVE
THE GROUND.

(II) IF THE SIGN IS PLACED AGAINST A
BUILDING, STRUCTURE, OR OTHER LOCATION THAT DOES NOT
OBSTRUCT VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC, THE BOTTOM EDGE OF
THE SIGN SHALL BE AT LEAST 6 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND.

(F) A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT A SPECIAL HANDICAPPED

REGISTRATION PLATE ACQUIRED PURSUANT TO SECTION 13-616 OF

THIS ARTICLE, MAY NOT PARK IN A SPACE RESERVED BY THIS

SECTION (E) A PERSON MAY NOT PARK A MOTOR VEHICLE IN A
SPACE DESIGNATED FOR THE HANDICAPPED UNLESS THE VEHICLE
BEARS A SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATE OR PERMIT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1979.
