(C) THE COMPTROLLER SHALL DISBURSE PROVIDE FUNDS EACH
YEAR TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND CORRECTIONAL
SERVICES THE AMOUNT OF $102,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING
A PROGRAM OF GRATUITOUS MEALS FOR FULL-TIME -----EMPLOYEES WHO
WORK WITHIN THE FACILITIES CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND CORRECTIONAL SERVICES.
[(C)] (D) Comptroller—shall pay all amounts not
required for the payment of salaries and expenses and
provisions for refunds in accordance with subsections (a),
[and] (b), AND (C) of this section, into the general funds
of the State.
Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments
684.
(a) The Department may appoint such officers and
employees as necessary from time to time [to an] FOR THE
efficient and effective operation of the Department and of
the several institutions and agencies therein as may be
provided for in the budget from time to time, at such
compensation and with such remuneration for traveling and
other expenses incident to their duties as may be provided
in the budget from time to time, OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
SERVING 40 HOURS OR MORE PER WEEK IN A DEPARTMENT
INSTITUTION SHALL BE ENTITLED TO ONE FREE MEAL PER SHIFT AS
MAY BE PROVIDED FOR IN THE BUDGET FROM TIME TO TIME.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 19 79.

AN ACT concerning
Education Article - Corrections — Handicapped
Children and Corrections
FOR the purpose of correcting a reference to Baltimore City
in a certain provision of the Education Article;
altering the year in which the State Superintendent of
Schools must permit a child to remain in a day—care
center which was previously funded by the Mental
Retardation Administration; correcting the name of the
body that appoints advisory councils to medical
training centers; deleting obsolete and misleading
references; and clarifying language.
