AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Proof of Age and Identity Requirements

FOR the purpose of providing uniform proof of age and
identity requirements for the issuance by the Motor
Vehicle Administration of Special Identification Cards
and Age of Majority Cards.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Transportation
Section 12-301(a) and 12-302 (a)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1977 Volume and 1978 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Transportation

(a) On [request] APPLICATION, the Administration

shall issue a special identification card to any individual
who:

(1) Is a resident of this State; [and]

(2) Does not have a driver's license; AND

(3) PRESENTS A BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR OTHER PROOF

OF AGE AND IDENTITY THAT IS SATISFACTORY TO THE

ADMINISTRATION.

(a) On Application, the Administration shall issue an
age of majority identification card to any adult who:

(1)   Is a resident of this State; and

(2)   On Application to the Administration,
presents [:

(i) A birth certificate as proof of age;
and
