LAWS OF MARYLAND
Ch. 22
(B) CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE.
THE JOINT BUDGET AND AUDIT COMMITTEE MAY DIRECT THE
LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR TO AUDIT CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE. THE
AUDITOR SHALL MAKE COPIES OF HIS AUDIT AVAILABLE TO THE
BOARD AND TO EACH COUNTY THAT SUPPORTS CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language added to clarify the third sentence of
Art. 77A, §5 (a) as it relates to audits and to
make explicit the requirement for an annual
audit.
Currently, the State Board for Community Colleges
requires audits under its authority to establish
general policies, and to administer the State's
program of support for community colleges. The
Rules of the State Board for Community Colleges
require the conduct and submission of signed
financial and enrollment audits annually. These
Rules require that these audits be conducted by
an independent certified public accounting firm
under contract with the Board of Trustees, and
specify the nature of the audit and provide
supplemental exhibits and certifications to be
submitted to the State.
Subsection (b) of this section is new language
derived without substantive change from Art. 77A,
§3A(f).
The last sentence of present Art. 77A, §3A(f),
which specifies the procedures for this audit, is
deleted as unnecessary.
GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE;
Article 77A, §5(b) is transferred to Art. 73B of the
Code, and placed with the provisions of the Teachers'
Retirement System and the Optional Retirement System.
