House Bill No. 1652 - Hospital Inpatient Care for Indigents —
local Contributions

AN ACT concerning

Hospital Inpatient Care for Indigents -
Local Contributions

FOR the purpose of repealing a requirement that each county
and Baltimore City pay a certain share of the costs of
the hospital care of indigent and medically indigent
persons in the respective political subdivision; and
and repealing other provisions relating to these
payments; and making this Act contingent upon the
taking effect of certain other Acts.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1652.

This bill repeals a requirement that each county and
Baltimore City pay a share of the costs of the hospital care
of indigent and medically indigent persons in the respective
political subdivision.

Senate Bill 1011, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 2, 1978, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
1652.
