VETOES

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1469.

This bill exempts certain Type I and Type II school
vehicles owned by a religious organization from vehicle
registration fees.

Senate Bill 525, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 16, 1978, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
1469.

Sincerely,
Blair Lee III
Acting Governor

House Bill No. 1476 - Post Conviction Review — Newly
Discovered Evidence

AN ACT concerning

New Trial Post Conviction Review — Newly

FOR the purpose of providing that in a criminal action any
time after sentencing and on a motion a court may grant
a new trial or other relief on the ground of newly
discovered evidence persons convicted of a crime may
institute proceedings to set aside or correct their

newly discovered evidence; and providing for a certain

prospective effective date of this Act with certain

exceptions.
