BLAIR LEE III, Acting Governor                        3185

House Bill No- 890 - Dorchester County - Alcoholic

Beverages

(Sales on Election Day)

AN ACT concerning

Dorchester County - Alcoholic Beverages
(Sales on Election Day)

FOR the purpose of allowing holders of alcoholic beverage
licenses in Dorchester County to exercise all of the
privileges conferred by the license on election day,
including allowing a wholesaler to deliver alcoholic
beverages to a licensee.

May 29, 1978
Honorable John Hanson Briscoe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 890.

This bill allows alcoholic beverage licensees in
Dorchester County to exercise the privileges conferred by
the license on Election day and allows a wholesaler to
deliver alcoholic beverages on that day.

The provisions relating to deliveries by wholesalers
were added by amendment. Prior to amendment. House Bill 890
was a duplicate of Senate Bill 534, which was enacted by the
General Assembly and signed by me on May 29, 1978.
Therefore, the Senate Bill accomplished the same purpose
with respect to licensees but does not provide for wholesale
deliveries. In addition, the sponsor of this bill has
requested its veto.

For these reasons, I have decided to veto House Bill
890.

Sincerely,
Blair Lee III
Acting Governor
