Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 250.

This till provides that a minor who is the victim of an
alleged rape or sexual assault has the same capacity as an
adult to consent to a physical examination for the purpose
of establishing and gathering information and evidence
regarding the crime.

Senate Bill 161, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 29, 1978, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
250.

AN ACT concerning

Somerset County — Taxes and Assessments

FOR the purpose of excluding certain farm silos from
inclusion in the valuation of property for certain
taxes in Somerset County.

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 290.

This bill excludes farm silos in Somerset County from
the valuation of the property on which the silo is located
for purposes of county property taxation.
