BLAIR LEE III, Acting Governor                        3105

For these reasons, I have decided to veto House Bill

House Bill No. 180 — Automated Dialing Systems

AN ACT concerning

Automated Dialing Systems

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the utilization of an
automated dialing or push—button or tone—activated

address signaling system for the purpose of soliciting

customers or sales.

May 29, 1978
Honorable John Hanson Briscoe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 180.

This bill prohibits the use of an automated dialing or
push-button or tone-activated address signaling system for
purposes of soliciting sales.

Senate Bill 24, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 16, 1978, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
180.

Sincerely,
Blair Lee III
Acting Governor
