Senate Bill No. 924 - Surface Mining - Gravel

AN ACT concerning

Surface Mining — Gravel

FOR the purpose of altering the amount of gravel permitted
to be extracted from small farms without a permit
submitting certain information.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 924.

This bill increases   the amount of minerals which may be

extracted from small farms without filing certain

topographic information     normally required of a surface

mining permit.

House Bill 1928, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 16, 1978, accomplishes the
same purpose. In addition, House Bill 1928 clarifies and
revises the bonding requirements for a surface mining permit
and revises the map requirements for final completion and
reclamation reports.

Since the purpose of Senate Bill 924 is accomplished by
the enactment and signing of House Bill 1928, it is
unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill 924.
