the first and third clauses of Art. 77A, §18.
The present reference to the authority of the
State Board for Higher Education over capital
projects under Art. 77A, §§ 31, 32, and 32A is
deleted as unnecessary in light of the similar
requirements of subsection (a) of this section.
The only other changes are in style.
The second clause of present Art. 77A, §18, which
grants merit system status to nonacademic
employees at institutions authorized by this
subsection, now appears in §13—106 of this
subtitle.
(G) AUTHORITY TO SELL OR EXCHANGE CERTAIN AGRICULTURAL
PROPERTIES.
(1) WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC
WORKS, THE BOARD MAY SELL OR EXCHANGE, ANY PART OF ITS
AGRICULTURAL PROPERTIES KNOWN AS THE "OTTEN FARM",
CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY 213 ACHES IN THE FIRST ELECTION
DISTRICT OF HOWARD COUNTY, AND THE "HOPKINS FARM", ALSO
KNOWN AS THE "UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND PLANT RESEARCH FARM",
CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY 333 ACHES IN THE FIFTH ELECTION
DISTRICT OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY.
(2) MONEY RECEIVED FROM THE SALE OF THIS
PROPERTY MAY BE USED, IF APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC
WORKS, ONLY TO PURCHASE OR IMPROVE AGRICULTURAL PROPERTY AND
FACILITIES. THIS MONEY MAY NOT BE APPLIED TO THE ANNUITY
BOND FUND ACCOUNT.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
Art. 77A, §19.
In paragraph (2) of this subsection, the present
requirement that the money "shall be held for the
account of the University of Maryland" is deleted
as unnecessary.
The only other changes are in style.
It should be noted that, except for 13 acres of
the Hopkins Farm, the properties referred to in
this section have not been disposed of yet,
although the University is still trying to
dispose of them.
13-105. FISCAL MATTERS.
(A) REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATIONS.
THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND SHALL SUBMIT A DETAILED
REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUDGET AND
FISCAL PLANNING AND TO THE STATE BOARD FOR HIGHER EDUCATION.
