Senate Bill No. 516 - Income Tax - Elderly

AN ACT concerning

Income Tax — Elderly

FOR the purpose of providing a certain subtraction from
federal adjusted gross income for State income tax
purposes of certain retirement benefits received by
certain disabled and elderly persons; providing for the
effective date of the Act; and generally relating to
the determination of the taxable net income of certain
elderly Maryland taxpayers.

Dear Mr- President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 516.

This Administration bill provides a subtraction from
federal adjusted gross income for State income tax purposes
of certain retirement benefits received by disabled and
elderly persons.

House Bill 849, which was enacted by the General

Assembly and signed by me on April 11, 1978, is the

companion Administration bill    which accomplishes the same
purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill
516.
