BLAIR LEE III, Acting Governor                        3023

Senate Bill No. 64 - Alcoholic Beverages — Conversion to
Metric System in Allegany County

AN ACT concerning

Alcoholic Beverages — Conversion to Metric System in
Allegany County

FOR the purpose of converting the size designation for
liquor containers in Allegany County from the customary
U.S. system to the metric system. For the purpose of

adding the metric equivalent to the existing

measurement concerning liquor containers in Allegany
County.

May 29, 1978
Honorable Steny H. Hoyer
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 64.

This bill purports to add the metric equivalent to the
existing measurement concerning liquor containers in
Allegany County.

The Attorney General has advised me that the title of
Senate bill 64 is defective and therefore in contravention
of Article III, Section 29 of the Maryland Constitution. A
copy of the Opinion of the Attorney General is attached and
should be considered a part of this veto message.

For this reason, I have decided to veto Senate Bill 64.

Sincerely,
Blair Lee III
Acting Governor
