WHEREAS, Exxon, Inc. inserted a customer warning in its
credit billing notices, thus helping to prevent violations
and protecting retailers from unfair pressures which would
cause them to violate the law; and

WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland believes that
notification is extremely beneficial to gasoline retailers
and consumers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
State of Maryland respectfully requests the major oil
companies of the United States of America to inform their
customers of the legal penalties that gasoline station
operators face for putting leaded gasoline into automobiles
or vehicles that require unleaded fuel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State of Maryland respectfully
requests that these notices be made and posted in a
prominent place within the next 12 months; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution shall be sent
to the following oil corporations:
