THE LOCAL GOVERNING BODY MAY ESTABLISH A SCENIC RIVER
ADVISORY BOARD FOR EACH DESIGNATED SCENIC OR WILD RIVER
WITHIN ITS JURISDICTION. EACH BOARD, AS CONSTITUTED BY THE
LOCAL AUTHORITY MAY RECOMMEND SUCH POLICIES, LAWS, RULES,
AND REGULATIONS, IN FURTHERANCE OF THE AIMS OF THIS SUBTITLE
TO THE APPROPRIATE LOCAL GOVERNING BODY. IF A SCENIC OR
WILD RIVER FLOWS THROUGH MORE THAN ONE COUNTY, THE SCENIC
RIVER ADVISORY BOARD MAY CONSIST OF AN EQUAL NUMBER OF
MEMBERS FROM EACH COUNTY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

(House Bill 2029)

AN ACT concerning

Criminal Proceedings - Jury Trials

FOR the purpose of permitting a defendant to waive his right
to trial by jury anytime prior to the swearing of the
jury up to 72 hours prior to trial; and providing that
the court may allow a change in the election of a jury
trial anytime before trial, upon motion and for good
cause shown.

Section 8-305

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1974 Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

8-305.

IN ANY CRIMINAL PROCEEDING THE DEFENDANT MAY WAIVE HIS

RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY AT ANYTIME PRIOR TO THE JURY BEING

SWORN UP TO 72 HOURS PRIOR TO THE TIME OF TRIAL. UPON

WAIVER OF JURY TRIAL THE DEFENDANT SHALL BE TRIED BY THE
COURT SITTING WITHOUT A JURY. THE COURT MAY AT ANYTIME

BEFORE TRIAL, UPON MOTION AND FOR GOOD CAUSE SHOWN, ALLOW A

CHANGE IN THE ELECTION OF A JURY TRIAL.
