CHAPTER 885

(House Bill 607)

AN ACT concerning

Courts and Judicial Proceedings - Collection of

Certain Payments

Department of Human Resources - Collection
of Support Payments

FOR the purpose of providing that certain payments relating
to destitute parents, support, and alimony be collected

by a certain State agency; permitting the counties and

Baltimore City to exercise the option of having the
responsibility for the collection of those payments to

be made by a local government agency or the courts;

specifying the services from which the collection of

these payments shall be financed when the

responsibility for collection is exercised by the local

government agency or the courts; requiring the

Department of Human Resources to adopt certain rules

and regulations and establish certain standards;

imposing certain duties on the Department of Human

Resources and the Secretary of the Department; changing

the name of a certain Division in the Social Services
Administration; generally relating to the collection of
certain payments for destitute parents, alimony, and

style of expression to certain provisions in the

Annotated Code of Maryland.

FOR the purpose of transferring the support collection
function and responsibility in certain counties and
Baltimore City to the Department of Human Resources;
permitting any subdivision to elect to exercise the

support enforcement function and responsibility under

certain circumstances and specifying the sources from
which the support enforcement function shall be
financed in that event; requiring the Department of

Human Resources to adopt regulations and establish

standards; imposing certain duties on the Department of
Human Resources and the Secretary of the Department;
changing the name of the Division in the Social
Services Administration; generally relating to the
enforcement of support; and making changes to the
language and style of expression of certain provisions
in the Annotated Code of Maryland.

BY adding to repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 88A — Social Services Administration

Section 59(b-1) to be under the amended subtitle

"Support Enforcement"
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)
