PURPOSE OF ACHIEVING ORGANIZATIONAL UNIFORMITY WITH THE
STATE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM, THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF
ASSESSMENTS AND TAXATION WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY
OF PERSONNEL, MAY INITIATE CHANGES TO THE CLASSIFICATION AND
SALARY OF ASSESSORS WHO HAVE ELECTED TO REMAIN AS A MEMBER
OF OR SUBJECT TO THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY SYSTEM OF THE
COUNTIES OR BALTIMORE CITY. Any assessor who elects to
remain in a local system shall be entitled to receive the
benefits of that system, and shall not share in any benefit
of a system provided for State employees.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning
St. Mary's and Charles Counties — Catching Fish
FOR the purpose of providing that the catching of fish in
the Potomac River is legal in Charles and St. Mary's
Counties if caught in compliance with the provisions of
the Potomac River Compact and rules or regulations
adopted by the Potomac River Commission.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:
Article — Natural Resources
4-102.
(b) Notwithstanding any other local or general law,
in Charles and St. Mary's counties the catching of [white
perch] FISH is legal if it is caught in the Potomac River in
compliance with the provisions of the Potomac River Compact
and any rule or regulation adopted by the Potomac River
Commission.
