AN ACT concerning

Bowie State College Police Force

FOR the purpose of providing for a Bowie State College
police force; limiting jurisdiction of the police force
to certain property; providing for the promulgation of
rules and standards concerning the police force; and
generally relating to the Bowie State College police
force.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland

(as enacted by Chapter of the Acts of the General

Assembly of 1978) be repealed, amended, or enacted to read
as follows:

Article — Education

SUBTITLE 5. BOWIE STATE COLLEGE POLICE FORCE

14-50 1.

(A)    THERE IS A BOWIE STATE COLLEGE POLICE FORCE.

(B)    (1) A BOWIE STATE COLLEGE POLICE OFFICER IS AND
HAS ALL THE POWERS OF A PEACE AND POLICE OFFICER IN THIS
STATE.

(2) HOWEVER, A BOWIE STATE COLLEGE POLICE
OFFICER MAY EXERCISE THESE POWERS ONLY ON PROPERTY THAT IS
OWNED, LEASED, OPERATED BY, OR UNDER THE CONTROL OF BOWIE
STATE COLLEGE. THE POLICE OFFICER MAY NOT EXERCISE THESE
POWERS ON ANY OTHER PROPERTY UNLESS:

(I) ENGAGED IN FRESH PURSUIT OF A
SUSPECTED OFFENDER;

(II) REQUESTED OR AUTHORIZED TO DO SO BY

THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OR CHIEF POLICE OFFICER OF ANY

COUNTY.

(III) (II) NECESSARY IN ORDER TO
FACILITATE THE ORDERLY FLOW OF TRAFFIC TO AND FROM PROPERTY
OWNED, LEASED, OPERATED BY, OR UNDER THE CONTROL OF BOWIE
STATE COLLEGE; OR
